Google Voice released for everyone in the United States

Google voice

Google Voice is here. In April we knew the news of Google’s intention to create a service to compete with Skype. Months later we can talk about it. You have to remember that this service isn’t the recent improvements of Gmail chat with audio and video calls.

Before the service was available for companies and some users and you could only access by an invitation. However, now it’s available to everybody. But only in the United States.

Google Voice calls can be made to every phone (home, office and mobile) into a single number and it can manage calls from the Internet. It’s also the instant voice messages. By subscribing the user can make free calls to numbers in the United States and Canada. And it has a very competitive costs for international calls.

Google Voice regained the technology developed by GrandCentral to create his service, although it still has to improve some things like the integration of social networks like Facebook or Twitter, which are almost indispensable to be connected with the world today. After a lot of tests Google Voice already is open to the public. Blackberry phones and interactive phones using the Android operating system may use it. But this service is not available for iPhone.
At the moment this service can’t make calls from computer to computer, so Skype still takes advantage. But the solution could be close with the recent purchase of Gizmo5. What’s the disadvantage? This is that the service doesn’t work at the moment in Europe.

Here we can see a graphic demonstration of Google Voice.
